Mother's Day Re-Visited
Along with other surprises, I received a poem from my best girl on Mother's Day. The instructions indicate that she should fill in information about her mom to complete the poem. I have corrected some of the spelling, not because I'm fastidious about spelling, but because I just couldn't read it the way it was written. I needed her to read it to me. Since you don't have her to interpret, I've fixed a few words for you. Here it is:- If my mom were a flower, she would be a TULIP because SHE IS AS BRITE AS A TULIP.
- If my mom were a song, she would be a LOVE SONG, because SHE LOVES ME A LOT.
- If my mom were a super hero, she would be a MAGNET HERO, becuase I STICK TO HER LIKE A MAGNET!
- If my mom were candy, she would be A LIFESAVER, because SHE WILL DO ANYTHING TO SAVE ME!
- If my mom were a car, she would be a JET FUSION, because SHE IS FAST AND EASY GOING.
- If my mom were a color, she would be BABY BLUE, becuase SHE IS AS KIND AS A BABY.
- If my mom were an animal, she would be a RABBIT, because SHE IS GENTLE.
- If my mom were a TV show, she would be a NATURE SHOW, because SHE LOVES NATURE.
Yes, I know that babies are not actually kind, they're egocentric. And, most moms may not appreciate being called fast. OK, I'll admit that I've never thought of myself as rabbit-like. But, if I was 'Magnet Hero' I could be a porcupine on Halloween by sticking nails to myself! How cool would that be?!
Really, though, I enjoyed being called gentle, loving and bright. Perhaps her characterization of her ma was biased because she is fond of me (or at least she's used to me). I'd be pleased if this was the way the world at large perceived me. That's unlikely, however. I think the poem says more about her than it does me. She's a one of a kind original.
